NCCESB & DNCC: Business And Employment Chiefs Welcome Drop In Unemployment
NCCESB and Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce's reaction to the Labour Market Stats released 16th May 2012.

Nottinghamshire has a long and strong history of partnership working - particularly around employment & skills, and partners have high expectations of what partnership can achieve.
The Employment & Skills Board, which covers both city and county, has a strong legacy from the ESBs which operated in the Greater Nottingham conurbation and the former coalfield area. The Board has evolved and now comprises an impressive mix of the county's largest employers, together with SMEs and business representative organisations together with key strategic decision makers, funders and providers all committed to achieving the partnership's vision of achieving long term sustainable employment and business growth, supported by a first class skilled workforce.
The Employment & Skills Board sits within a partnership context in Nottinghamshire. It is represented on, and contributes to, key economic development partnerships such as the Joint Strategic Leadership Board and the Core Cities Board. It is anticipated that these groups will be the route to influence to newly formed Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership. Partnership alliances with the Derbyshire ESBs will strengthen our ability to maximise the opportunities of working across our LEP area.
Local Strategic Partnerships operate across Nottinghamshire and provide a valuable feed of local intelligence and neighbourhood action. For example ONE Nottingham, the city LSP, sponsors Working Nottingham, which in conjunction with Nottingham City Council, successfully delivered an enhanced Future Jobs Fund programme for the city. The Mansfield Strategic Partnership coordinates Multi Agency Employment Teams which reduce duplication and promote holistic approaches for some of our challenging estates.
On a neighbourhood level, local area partnerships such as The Meadows Partnership Trust and Bestwood Directions have a long track record in helping local residents to find work. Local employment activity will get a boost in 2011 as Nottinghamshire County Council and Self Help Nottingham provide support to pump prime community led Work Clubs, including the first one in Worksop.
The ESB has also developed joint working arrangements with the health community, recognising the complex interrelationship between health and employment. More about this can be found in our Activity section.
